The LION Starts Here

This past weekend, we had the chance to meet several other theatre makers in the space where we will be performing THE LION IN WINTER by James Goldman this upcoming February /March,2025 in Rochester NY.

I have blurred the faces out of respect for personal privacy.

A very busy space, it is booked already for the entirety of 2025 already, so we were lucky to get the time that we wanted! It will soon be booking for 2026, so we need to plan our next show very soon. I have one in mind but will announce further down the line.

There is a parking lot, but also lots of street parking as well. An older building, it has been a performance / Art Center for about fifteen years.

As one enters, you will see the box office to either purchase or pick up your tickets.

Passing that, you will find four restrooms and a place to hang your coats, should you so wish.

A turn, and you go into the large space, where original artwork is displayed and often available for purchase. This is also where the snack bar is.

A quick left and you are now in the black box performance area. The eighty seats are arranged upon risers, giving the audience members great sight lines. The auditorium reflects sound clearly, so performers need not wear microphones to be heard and understood (a major pet peeve of mine).

The stage can only be entered by a door stage left, but there is another door on the opposite side that can be used for prop storage and perhaps performers can preset there for particular entrances.

In the next two weeks, we hope to lock in our audition and rehearsal spaces.

By November, we will be announcing the address of our theatre.

Keep following our blog.

If you wish to donate to TETCNY, you may make a SECURE donation through FRACTURED ATLAS.

The Lion In Winter is licensed through Concord Theatricals.
