THE LION IN WINTER- NEW -UPDATES IV 10.30.24

First off , Happy Hallowe'en to all. May it be fun and safe .

Hallowe'en is the one day that everybody gets to pretend,

which is what we do in the theatre all the time--often without

candy at the end.

The costumes for the play are now all paid for and merely await

our sending the sizes of the performers cast.

The audition and rehearsal space will be paid for shortly.

Still awaiting confirmation of our final week rehearsal space which

we will use just prior to moving into the performance space.

Pricing print shops for programs . I am not a fan of the scanned play programs.

Yes, printed programs are wasteful , and often get tossed. It is nice to have a physical memento , and play programs are nice to collect .

We now have all but TWO of the props needed for the play ,

and they should be here no later than a week from now.

We also have all the major set pieces (door frames, tapestry frames,

bed frames- let's face it, we were framed!)ready....except for painting

and assembly.

We hope that Nicole, our wonderful set builder, is fully recovered by January,

as she has expressed the desire to finish the job.

However ,her health comes first, so we may need assistance on completing this

important part of the business we call show.

It is amazing to realize we are ONLY 30 DAYS from our auditions for THE LION IN WINTER.

This has been a long in development project that has survived death, COVID , several theatre closures, false promises and financing , and an unexpected life changing move.

It is, to be honest, my great white whale, heaping me for ages.

I am optimistic it will not result in the destruction of all involved ,unlike Ahab's fate.

Audition info :

AUDITIONS will be

November 30th ,2024 , 3 to 6pm

and

December 7th, 2024 , 3 to 6 pm

MT Ed 4785 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612

Sides will be provided .

Table read December 14, 2024 (3 to 6 pm)

Actors will be asked to be off script as much as possible for rehearsals .

Rehearsals will be January 4,8,10,11,15,17,18,22,24,25,29,31

February 1,5,7,8,12,14,15

weekdays 7pm -10pm, Saturdays 3pm-6pm

all at the MT ED performance space . Some rehearsals will be added if needed.

There will be rehearsals the week of February 17 to 22nd location and dates - T.B.A .

Load into our performance space will be the evening of February 23, with rehearsals .

TECH WEEK RUN February 24,25,26,27th.

TECH WEEK and PERFORMANCES will be at

Muccc 142 Atlantic Ave, Rochester, NY 14607

Performances will be February 28, March 1, March 2 (matinee with talkback ),March 6, March 7,March 8th.

Load out will be March 9th day.

Characters need to be able to perform with Standard American Speech , to help set the mood . Vocal projection and clarity. There are several sexual situations as well as daggers being brandished and a final dagger fight between several characters .

The setting is 1183 ,Christmas time , in Chinon Castle , France .
